TechSkills is a scam. The cost of their tuition is incredibly over priced for what students actually receive. The instructors are not even qualified to provide training for some of the programs they offer. The instruction provided is almost entirely online video streaming rather than hands on classroom time as they claim. The online video streams that TechSkills provide are generated by a 3rd party company rather than by TechSkills themselves. Students can be purchased the EXACT SAME video streams themselves at a fraction of the cost of what TechSkills is charging. Further, in addition to video lectures students can obtain very similar lesson plans and labs extremely cheap online. TechSkills is simply purchasing a bulk license from several different vendors and piecing together an education. This is fine however students can do the exact same thing at a fraction of the cost (far less than 25% of what they charge).
In summary, TechSkills does not really provide students with anything they cannot get themselves for cheaper. If you are unemployed and EDD offers you some type of retraining credits through TechSkills (about 95% of their students) then it is probably fine as it costs you nothing however it is a big rip off to the government. If you are employed and looking to obtain some type of technical training or certifications two excellent alternatives to TechSkills include: self study or community colleges.
