Fun way to meet people in and around SF
|
This is a review of SF Speed Date, which is probably the best idea in Internet dating. Unlike your typical one-on-one date set up online, this is guaranteed to be a fun evening. It's simply a night out at a bar except that you have to talk to everybody, so you're going to have a very social time. There is no risk of getting stuck on an hour-long date with someone you don't like just to be polite. If you get a date out of Speed Date, it's going to feel more like a second date, since you've already met the person.
The way the event is advertised makes it sound structured and timed, but it's conducted somewhat haphazardly. This is a good thing. If it were conducted like musical chairs or a ballroom dance lesson where everyone switches at once, it would feel less social. There is no hard start or end point. Instead the hosts go around to one person at a time and tap them on the shoulder as they try to keep track of all the pairings in their heads.
To wrap this up, if you're thinking of trying speed date, do it!
