After logging on to jdate.com, a banner read that I had 28 messages in my inbox. Thinking this was an opportunity to meet people on the site, I attempted to open my inbox and was redirected to the subscription screen. I'm a single mom in a community where Jewish people are few and far between. Therefore, I chose to purchase a subscription. To my shock and disbelief, ALL of the messages were OLD and already read from when I had the account open a YEAR ago! Feeling the company misrepresented itself, I contacted them via email to dispute the charge as it was obtained under false pretenses. The response email suggested I call the toll free number to speak with the billing department. I called at 10am MDT and spoke with a Middle Eastern young man who suggested it was my own fault for assuming the messages were new. I did my best to remain calm and asked that, in the interest of customer service, they recognize this situation was misleading and that they refund my money. I explained that when there are NEW messages I would be happy to purchase the subscription again but not until then. He refused my request suggesting I was at fault. I told him I would prefer to handle this issue with them but, if they couldn't help me, I would have to dispute the charge with my bank and report the business practice. He chose the latter and wished me good luck since they "won't be hijacked by users". I am still rather shocked.

We regret to hear of your situation; however, it is important to understand that the notification received for new messages will indicate any messages that have the unopened icon.
As stated in our Terms of Service and as our call center representative previously explained, all sales are final and not refund will be issued for any used or unused portions of your subscription term.
Thank you
