i thought sezmi was a great idea; was tired of being bullied by cable co's and their pricing. liked their concept. bought it, and originally had really good cst service, until i noticed I had reception issues (from the beginning). the reps were helpful in the beginning trying to problem solve. they had me moving the antennaes (which are like little speaker boxes) where it faced north, no NE, try S-doing diagnostic tests; gave me a 2nd antennae to try to pick up a LOCAL channel, and that didn't work still. here's where sezmi lost me, they offered to send an external antennae to better receive signal from tower at mt. baldy, except when i called to set up the appt, they said oh, we're not offering that anymore to cstmrs (except they already had offered it me, and now were going back on their word) said, we've just changed our programming and aren't offering the 80channels that we adv was the reason we were better than cable anymore...so it's not cost efficient for us to do now. this new way is great!! u can watch shows when you want and how you want! u just purchase them on demand. EACH show. not the station, not the series. the episode. hmmm...bait and switch on several accts...lemme c if i follow, all the shows i got for free and cld dvr and watch them whenever i wanted to, no--under the pretense of i can watch them whenever i want to--er, didn't i already have that capability w/ dvr?, NOW i have to pay for them, when your advertisement literally states "Complete TV Service" "Over 80local channels, pop cable netwrks...and your rate stays at 19.99per month (we'll leave the bait and switch tactics to the cable company)" "unlike cable sezmi has nothing to hide: no hd fees, no local channel fees, no cable franchise fees, no long-term contracts, no gotcha end of promotion price hikes"
except there are cable episode shows fees, and a gotcha end of the year price hike. oh sure, it's 4.99/mo for their service of no channels except the local channels. can you imagine if you watched a cable show every night, for a month and let's say it's 2$...that's 60/month plus the 4.99--i think that's EXACTLY like cable. except w/ cable you can watch more than one show a night! and it's prob. less. oh, yeah, and wait. you don't get reception for the 4.99 local channels, so since nothings on t.v. i guess i'll buy a cable show. ingenious. oh, but there's more. you can get all this for a start up fee of $200 for the sezmi personal TV System.
I've never written a review for a company...I'm so disgusted w/ sezmi and their business ethics, false advertising, undelivered promise, bait and switch prices, indifference to resolving an issue (another prob. w/ them, but phew--isn't this enough?)...i should've waited for this company to stand a little test of time before i decided to try them too.
save your money. cable will be PENNIES compared to sezmi if i were to keep it.
p.s. sezmi only works on one t.v. in the house; if you want sezmi on more than one t.v.--that'll be another $200. plus 4.99. plus 60. plus not being able to view them cuz there's no reception.
(perhaps if i lived closer to mt. baldy this wldnt be an issue)
