We chose this office due to it took our insurance (DeltaCareUSA) and its location. The people there seemed to be nice when my wife went into the office last October for her check up. She ended up needing a root canal and 2 crowns. This is where the troubled started. We were quoted a price significantly higher (like $1200) that our fee schedule (our Delta is an HMO like policy). We were told we were getting a discount due to our insurance. Our HMO does not have a discount plan. What I figured is they just told us what the upgrade costs would be, not what insurance will pay for. Once I handed them a copy of the fee schedule they "fixed" it. My wife was referred to a sister office for the root canal since they don't do them in theirs. We went there and after x-rays were told the root canal would be $600! Huh? Our fee schedule states we pay $90. We left and went back to Rancho Mirage and said what gives? I was assured they were supposed to accept the $90 and after the billing person called them was told they didn't know what he was talking about. They got us an actual referral from Delta and we went to Palm Desert Dental-which was my old dentist. Root canal done at $90. After that dentist said some of her old fillings were worn down and said the best thing to do was get some inlays-at $600x2. I said huh? Inlays and crown are the same price on my plan, $160 each. I was told that was the price they had in the computer, but they would check with "corporate". We were charged an office visit (again-not allowed by plan) and said wait for call. Never got one. I filed a complaint with Delta Dental, answer pending. In the meantime we all went back to Palm Desert Dental; not sure why we ever left them. They stated inlays were not necessary, but if you wanted them they would be $160 each. They don't seem to have a billing issue there....I would recommend staying away from Rancho Mirage Dental.
