Review 12/3/2008

I moved from Denver Colorado to Gillette Wyoming for a job. I needed movers to bring up my things on December 1st 2008. My hospital was taking care of the expenses but I had to use the lowest bidding quote. I got three quotes and ended up with this company as the lowest. I arranged a date for the 1st of December for my move well in advance. The gentleman on the phone told me that for my convinience I could reserve two days in case anything changed. I said that that would be fine. They also tired to demand a $200 deposit for the move but since my company sent a letter of intent and were taking care of the expenses I refused to pay. They eventually agreed to do the move. The moving day came and about 8am on December 1st I had not heard from them.
I called and they told me that the truck was not available and we would be moving on the 2nd, but they couldn't give me a pickup time. I was frustraited since my parents were in Denver and I was in Gillette and we had all cleared our schedule for this pre-planned move. We then cleared our days on the 2nd. The day of December 2nd came and I hadn't heard from them so again when the office opened at 8am I called, no answer. I continued to call until about 10pm and finally was able to get ahold of someone. They told me that they were not sure where their truck was. All they knew was that the truck was somewhere between Utah and Colorado.
By this time I was furious and I tried to cancel the move. The gentleman on the other line, named Ameer, explained to me that all moving companies worked this way and no one would give me such a good price and a dedicated truck. The move now would likely be either the night of the 2nd or sometime on the 3rd. They again would not give any distinct pickup or delivery time. The gentleman told me that he could not allow his men to drive and work more than 8 hours in one day or he would be shut down so whenever the truck got there, I wouldn't have my deliever until a day after that.
At this point I was in my new apartment in Gillette wyoming, without a bed, or pots, or pans, or plates, or forks. I was sleeping on a very rugged army cot in a sleeping bag eating fast food because I couldn't cook any of my own food. My things had been planned to arrive two days ago and hadn't even been picked up. The man on the phone did make the error of telling me that they had a pickup in Gillette Wyoming on Thrusday so my things had to be there by then. So I wondered if they just didn't feel like putting their employees up for a night or two while waiting for the next pickup.
I am so grateful that I did not give this company a deposit and I basically told them to forget about it and for $200 more than they quoted me I went with All My Sons Moving based in Colorado. They were able to do a next day move with a dedicated truck. They sent out 4 guys and gave me a time they would be at the pickup sites and a roundabout time that they would be arriving in Gillette weather permitting. Same day delivery. When I told Ameer on the phone that I was switching companies he laughed and said good luck, and told me about what a terrible company all my sons was. Then I told them about the BBB rating comparison and he told me that BBB did not matter for moving companies.
This company was very unproffessional and undependable. I wouldn't recommend trusting your items with them since they cant make any scheduled time and also don't seem to keep very good track of their trucks.
