Bait and switch?
|
I decided to use this company because they were the only ones who quoted me the price to do the work over the phone. Others would not do this until they came out. First red flag is when the plumber comes in and asks, "what's that smell?". Hello? My sewer is backed up and that's why you're here! Proceeded to take him to laundry room where he will have to put snake in. He asks me several questions regarding last time I had this done. Wants to know why we didn't have last plumbers install a clean out outside because it's easier to get to and that way no mess in house. I guess his suggestions were okay but at this point I just want him to get to work. He then tells me is machine won't fit in laundry room. I ask him why can't he go through garage like last plumbers did? He says he thinks that might work. He then tells me he knows I was quoted a certain amount but it's more work than he thought and quotes me twice the amount I was quoted on the phone! Needless to say I was angry and sent him on his way. Now, I want to make it clear that the money was not the issue here. I have a problem with the fact that I explained in detail what the problem was on the phone, even told them how long a snake would be needed and where the roots were located. For this guy to come out here and double the price before he even attempted the work, just did not seem right to me.
